Stonecreek at Habitat's New Centennial Village

Here is a shout out to all the incredible volunteers that represented Stonecreek Church last Saturday for Habitat for Humanity's new Centennial Village in Milton! Thanks for giving back to add value to families who will have a new place to call "home!" What a great way to welcome our new neighbors, only a few blocks south of Stonecreek Church!

Stonecreek Partners with Habitat for Humanity

Stonecreek is partnering with Habitat for Humanity (North Central Georgia) to build a new home for a family in Centennial Village, a new development located 1/2 mile south of Stonecreek Church on Highway 9 in Milton, Georgia. We are participating in Phase II of the development as a part of our Raise Your Game initiative.

I had the opportunity to represent Stonecreek at the Phase I First Nail Ceremony earlier in September (see photos). To enrich family and community life, Stonecreek has also committed to  provide a playground in the neighborhood's commons area. Once the neighborhood is fully developed (estimated January 2009), the playground will be installed.

We have committed to have 30 volunteers serve on Saturday, November 3. To volunteer, contact Thom McDermott, a Stonecreek volunteer with an amazing heart to make a difference in our communities through service. You can also stop by the Habitat display in the lobby at Stonecreek this coming Sunday. This is a great project to participate with your small group or your neighbors!

Stonecreek & Habitat for Humanity

I'm excited for the opportunity to be a part of the "first nail ceremony" for Centenniel Village, a new housing development by Habitat for Humanity. The new neighborhood is only three blocks south of Stonecreek, and about 2 miles from my home in the new city of Milton, GA. They've asked me to offer a prayer of thanksgiving and blessing for the project, volunteers and new home owners.

Kim, Miles and Millie are going with me this morning for the ceremony at 8 a.m. We wanted our whole family to be a part of what our community is doing to unite for good of others!

Through Raise Your Game, Stonecreek Church is partnering with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for a family who would otherwise not be able to experience home ownership. We'll be participating in phase two of the Centenniel Village project. Thank you, Stonecreek, for your generosity in giving beyond your regular tithe through Raise Your Game. Watch for details this fall on how you or your Connection Group can be a part of the Habitat build at Centenniel Village through Stonecreek.

We've also committed to work with Habitat North Fulton to install a playground in the community's common area as a gift from Stonecreek to the families and children. The neighborhood will be completed in 2009, and the playground will be one of the final projects to be installed.
